郭靖（梁家仁 饰）和黄蓉（欧阳佩珊 饰）遇见了年幼便失去了双亲的杨过（刘德华 饰），可怜他孤苦伶仃的身世，侠肝义胆的夫妇两人收留了杨过，将他带回桃花岛，苦心调教。随着时间的推移，杨过渐渐长大，然而此人个性十分顽劣，又倔强不听劝导，但却有着极高的武学天赋，于是，郭靖将他送往了重阳宫，希望他能够在那里接受教化。 然而，杨过却依然我行我素，肆意妄为。一次偶然中，杨过闯入了教规明令禁止进入的后山，在那里遇见了孙婆婆，又被恍如天人的小龙女（陈玉莲 饰）收为徒弟，传授给他了古墓派绝学。渐渐的，杨过和小龙女之间产生了真挚的情谊，然而，这段感情却必定要遭受非议和风雨。
